Returning to Walton Hall & Gardens

Back on the 17th of April 2016 I introduced you to Walton Hall & Gardens in Warrington - promising you I would return when I could to really show you how beautiful the whole area is when in bloom. Its one of my absolute favourite places to visit as you can probably tell by my instagram this weekend!

There was a wedding taking place on the day we went, so I haven't included any photographs that may inadvertently give away anything from their special day -- but we did manage to have a long sun kissed wander around the flowerbeds. The gardens are so wonderfully maintained, I'm a little glad that I can focus on the gardens in this post as the zoo often features so heavily in my Walton Gardens visits!

I adore, and I mean really adore this tree. The colour is so striking, and when you don't expect to turn a corner and see a golden/apricot coloured tree in your eyeline? Its spectacular! I think I've managed to track down the tree to a 'coral bark maple' thanks to Bluebell Arboretum and Nursery, and as soon as we have a home and garden I want to get hold of one for myself!

Is there anything better than blossom season? I love seeing the pink blossoms in full swing, even if it does create a merciless pink snow which can devastate drivers in a single gust! Where I work is lined with these, so I get to enjoy them each day when I go and not just at the gardens thankfully. This is the woodland walk area, and nature has taken over this area just enough to let you feel like you're in some sort of enchanted forest.

I'm not one hundred percent on what this beauty is, although I'm leaning towards some sort of Hibiscus. It was a large plant and the huge flowers were very abundant! The colours of these were quite hard to capture as the touch of pink really is just that -- a very light flush of pink on the petals.

Bluebells. My favourite wildflower! I always love seeing the woodland floors carpeted in these, especially when you get slight variations in the shades! Its like Mother Nature wanted to capture each shade of blue when she made these. I remember Bluebells were almost magical to me as a child as someone told me it was illegal to pick them. Because of that, I never have and probably never will - but you can take your chances if you'd like, depending on how you interpret the code of conduct.

The more formal side of the gardens, where the wedding was taking place. This is where the tulips flourish - from red to purple and back again the flower beds have been well stocked. Tulips are another favourite of mine, although I'm more partial to a white one!

The formal gardens are clean, tidy, and kept to an incredibly high standard. I'm glad I've made time to come back to see them in their full glory, because as I previously mentioned -- they weren't quite there when we last dropped by. If you live in the local area, I really do recommend you go for a visit! Take a picnic blanket and some snacks, and go make the most of this glorious space. The zoo is free, the gardens are free, and the park there has had some massive upgrades for the children. Even the pitch 'n putt has had a huge makeover (it wasn't quite finished this time, so hopefully that could be my next focus)!

All in all, a huge thank you to the garden staff at Walton Hall and Gardens for providing such a beautiful space for people to enjoy. I certainly can't wait to go back and share more of their hard work - they deserve every single praise for what they do!
